Meet the Team

Izzi Harman,

Founder & Occupational Therapist

Izzi, an occupational therapist with a background in supporting individuals with neuromuscular conditions, initially embarked on her professional path as a dancer. A pivotal moment occurred during a performance for children with muscular dystrophy, reshaping her career trajectory. Witnessing the positive spirit and dedication at the camp, fueled by nearly 50 children with MD and their support workers (many of whom were OT students), sparked a deep desire within Izzi.

Inspired by the camp's atmosphere and the commitment of the OT students, Izzi pursued a career in Occupational Therapy. Her studies were enriched by firsthand experience as a support worker for families with children diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome, congenital MD, and DMD. While the specific diagnoses differed, Izzi observed a powerful common thread: the families all faced the ongoing challenge of grief and loss as they watched their children's abilities decline.

This experience, coupled with her academic knowledge, laid the foundation for Dinkum Disability's mission. In 2022, Izzi graduated with Honours from the Australian Catholic University, earning a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. Since then, she has ventured into the NDIS space, where her skills and genuine commitment continue to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.

Jack serves as Izzi's assistant at Dinkum Disability, bringing a unique and invaluable perspective with his lived experience of muscular dystrophy. Jack plays a crucial role in supporting Izzi's work, whilst also managing a full-time double degree in Social Sciences and Arts and living independently out of state from his parents. Jack's personal and academic achievements underscore his exceptional organisational skills and dedication, making him an indispensable asset in providing support and insight to Izzi and the Dinkum Disability team.
